Instagram’s new Stories sticker lets you ask your followers to join a group chat

The new feature, called the chat sticker, joins a bunch of other stickers Instagram has introduced to Stories, including polls, question boxes, mentions, locations, hashtags, and countdowns, among others. The chat sticker is relatively straightforward, and Instagram is positioning it as a solution for people who want to have a big group conversation about something or for making plans.

Here’s how they work: Users add the “Chat” sticker to their Story, which essentially invites followers to request to join a new group chat in Direct based on that Story. When users click, they can request to join said group, and the account holder can approve these requests as they see fit
