Job Opportunity: Account Manager at BLU Flamingo Uganda
Job Title: Account Manager | BLU Flamingo Uganda
Reports to: Account Director
The Role
You’ll be the link between our clients and the people who do the work — creatives, strategists, producers, media planners. When a client has a problem, you’re the first person they call. When the team needs direction, you’re the one giving it.
This isn’t about taking orders and passing them on. We need someone who can sit in a room with a senior client, understand what they’re really trying to solve, and come back with sharper thinking than they asked for. Someone who can run a pitch, push back on a brief that isn’t working, and keep a project moving when things get messy.
If you like solving problems, working with smart people, and seeing your work in the world — read on.
What You’ll Do
Look after the clients in your portfolio. Know their business, their category, their competitors, and where the market is heading — sometimes better than they do.
Grow the accounts you run. Spot opportunities, bring ideas to the table, and turn good relationships into bigger ones.
Win new business. Get stuck into pitches, proposals, and renewals.
Keep clients happy. Track satisfaction across your accounts. If something feels off, fix it before it becomes a problem.
Protect the quality of the work. Make sure nothing leaves the agency unless it’s strategically sound and creatively strong.
Manage scope and budgets. Have the honest conversations early so projects stay healthy.
A Day in the Life
No two days are the same, but most include some mix of these: checking in on status reports, briefing the creative and production teams, sitting in a client meeting to talk through a new campaign, sending over a rough cut of a TV ad for feedback, running a brainstorm for a client who wants to grow sales in a specific category, doing a store walk to see what competitors are up to, and keeping up with culture, news, and trends that affect your clients’ businesses.
You’ll also be the one who keeps timelines honest — gently telling clients when something isn’t possible by Friday, and making sure your team isn’t drowning to make the impossible happen. And whether our client sells tractors or trainers, you’ll be expected to know their world inside out.
Who You Are
A clear thinker. You can hold your own in a strategic conversation and bring a point of view, not just a process.
Adaptable. We’re growing fast. Things change. You’re okay with that — and you help shape what comes next.
Good with people. You’ll work with creatives, strategists, producers, clients, and partners across several countries. You know how to read a room and find common ground.
Curious. You pay attention to what’s happening in culture, tech, and business — and you connect the dots back to your clients.
Calm under pressure. Deadlines are tight. Things go sideways. You handle it without losing your head or burning out your team.
A good teammate. People like working with you. You make the room better.
You have a provocative obsession with AI and automation.
Qualifications
A degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
5+ years of experience managing large, complex accounts — agency-side preferred
A track record of growing accounts, leading teams, and delivering work you’re proud of
